I have been on a spiritual journey for a very long time.

In October 2013, I wrote a blog called, My Church, so I won't get all preachy here (pun fully inteneded), but feel free to read that post if you're so inclined.

I do know I will never have all the answers. I will never claim to be a perfect person. I have made some outlandish mistakes in my life. My closet still has a few skeletons I haven't shared with the world.

Last week Glennon Doyle Melton, the amazing woman behind Momastery reposted this video on FB. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the Sunday sermon I HAD to share.

WATCH THIS. It is but five and a half minutes of your day. And it will make you think.
You all "know" my friend Anita. Last night she had a birthday party. Friends and family galore. More food than should be legal. Lots of conversations. I was delighted to be invited.

Before the party, I was invited to Anita's church. In her kitchen. Officiated by her childhood friend Anthony. With readings by her kids.

I wanted to honor Anita by celebrating her birthday mass with her.

I don't know the new responses. I know the old responses that are a part of my psyche from a very young age. I didn't take part in communion but I DID take part in the kiss of peace.

It was a short, touching beautiful mass and I am glad I went. It is something to witness the shimmer of love and hope and kindness in a room where the beliefs of all created a gorgeous aura of golden pink.

Please send loving thoughts to Sarah and her family as they say a final earthly farewell to her Mom, Kathy. Cancer took her life but her spirit could never be taken and will absolutely live on in the people she adored.

I am delighted to report that for the first time in a year, Jake was able to go to school for a full day for the week. Amy didn't know what the hell to do with herself, so she read a book and fell asleep. Go, Jake. Go, Amy.

Please feel free to send love and light to anyone you know needs it and if you would like to share their name in the comments I encourage you to do so.

No life can escape being blown about
By the winds of change and chance
And though you never know all the steps
You must learn to join the dance
