A couple of years ago, my friend Laura and I had a "put your favorite Christmas album cover" each day on Facebook from December 1 through the 24th. Last year, we attempted covers and music. I was lame, pathetic really.

I have decided this year I will do 12 Days of Christmas via the blog, which of course, ultimately gets shared on FB. I think I might sweep it this year.

If you've been reading here for any amount of time you may have figured out I love all kinds of music. Last week, I was positively giddy because The Sing-Off is back on TV. I "met" Pentonix there two years ago. Their version of "Little Drummer Boy" is arguably one of the best, ever.

As you can see from the photo above, my own little boy was my original drummer boy. This is on his third birthday. (I cleverly hid the birthday hat with the Santa hat.)

For his 10th birthday we gave Peter quite the drum set. He was SO surprised and honestly, he loved it. Peter played percussion in band until this year. I can tell you, he rocked a triangle like nobody's business at a couple of concerts and as you can see, he was awesome on the "big boy drums" as some of my friends kids liked to call them.

In 2011, Peter announced he wasn't going to be playing the drums in the house anymore. I must confess to being a little sad. I wrote to his drum teacher and he hooked me up with a family whose young son was, like Peter as a little boy, obsessed with drumming.

In an email to me after they brought them home, the mom told me their son shared a similar look of delight to young Peter when they gave them to him. How cool is that?

Although there isn't a drum kit in the house anymore, I can assure you Peter plays the dining room table, the steering wheel and pretty much anything else that he can add a beat to.

Dancing today will be more like swaying - but boy, it will be soulful, joyful, reggae based swaying!

PS - yes, I showed this to Peter before posting it. Well, most of it...
Pentonix uploaded this on YouTUbe on November 25.
SEVENTEEN MILLION hits since then.
If you're on Facebook, you've seen this posted over and over.
If you're not on FB, THIS IS EXCEPTIONAL.
Listen to it!
Because it IS that good.
Day 2 of the 12 days of Christmas.
