They get picked up at 10:00-ish tonight, they collapse into bed, and are up and at 'em by 7:15 Saturday morning.
Every year it's hard to get enough families to house the kids and I always think to myself, I would want someone like me to house MY kids if they needed it. So, we get a few snacks, get some Dunkin' Donuts, apples, and strawberries and send them off to argue for the sheer fun of it.
I write this because I have a friend, Elisha, who is doing amazing work for at-risk teenage girls.
The polar opposite of the teenage girl who lives in my house and the girls I will be housing tonight.
Their mission is to help a particularly vulnerable group, exploited and at-risk teenage girls through their organization, The Crossover Yoga Project. They bring a curriculum of yoga and creative art therapy to girls in the juvenile justice system, empowering them to make positive changes for a better future.
