My sister Jane is the Co-Chair of our local Relay for Life. The word "hope" is part of the everyday vernacular of the people who Relay; they are coping with cancer - as the person with cancer or as the person loving someone with it. It's an ugly disease.
My dear Kelly (you know, logo designer extraordinaire) began a foundation last year, Suz Crew, with love, and to honor her mom who died from a particularly insidious form of cancer called LMS. I am proud and honored to be on the Board of Directors. Hope. We do what we can to help people keep it.
Today I am having breakfast with a friend who embodies the word hope. She "keeps it real" while fighting the hard fight. Through humor, research, educating herself, and having friends who care so much about her, I like to think hope keeps her going each day.
