Working at the beauty parlor, (you have to say "beauty parlor" in JUST the right voice...) has given me a greater appreciation for humans and how we perceive we look.
When people call for appointments, I cannot tell you how many of them tell me how awful they look while we are on the phone. Then they come in the door, and honestly, they don't look all that bad - at least to me. When they leave, they ALWAYS feel and look beautiful. There is a mirror behind the desk and it is a magic mirror. People just gaze at themselves as they check out. The BEST part of it? They LIKE what they see! I love that; I love that they see themselves as gorgeous.
I hate when I tell someone they look beautiful and they scoff at it. Seriously people, learn to just say, "Thank you."
I have a friend, Lisa, who told me more than ten years ago, "If I look good, I feel good!" She would come to classes fully made up, in her high heeled shoes (we always knew it was Lisa coming down the stairs) and even if her day was crappy, she felt better than if she had just thrown on some sweats, pulled her hair into a pony tail (her hair is short so she couldn't do that...but, you get my point), and looked as miserable as she may have felt.
I have used Lisa's philosophy more than a few times in my life. Mascara CAN make the difference. I guess for the men out here, shaving CAN make the difference. A little extra effort on our outside self WILL make the difference on our inside self.
Still, I laugh every time I see this...
Enjoy your day - you're gorgeous!
THIS is fabulous!
