River and Amy's Request for Jake

It is crisp and cold outside and I have 57 million errands to run today. I put Peter on evening driving duty. After 1:00 this afternoon I will be available only by cell...yep, it's one of those days

While I am running around like a mad woman, my dear friend Amy and her family is living every day with all kinds of "stuff" most of us will never have to handle.

This is Amy & Jeff heading out to a party the other night. Note the "jet pack" adorned with lights. A sense of humor is a requirement when one is alive due to the miracles of modern medicine.

This morning, Amy posted this on a prayer board set up for Jake. We're a powerful bunch, so I know you will do what you can with your gifts and talents.

Please keep Jake in your prayers this week. We are trying to do school two periods a day and it has not been very successful. He has headaches and vomiting. I call the doc often in a panic. He reassures me this is from the chemo we put into his body to cure this. We are beyond grateful for the blessing of cancer free....he is just still struggling the after effects. They did tell us it is most likely because his treatment was so concentrated all in an 8 week time frame to kill the cancer. So if you think of him this week please lift him up. The doctor told us it is time to turn him back into a boy. Those were a few of the most wonderful words we have ever heard. We are just figuring out that going back to being a boy is quite an ordeal. I know this probably seems like a silly little prayer request with what we have conquered, but it is a daily battle for him to have the stamina and feel well enough to return. I just want him to know what it is like to really feel good again. Thank you all for praying! We have friends whose kids are going through horrible cancer treatments and it just reminds me how much I hate cancer. Praying for the day all of these kids can "just be a boy."

As always, if you have it to share, all donations are accepted gratefully to help them continue to fight the good fight - from having Jake become a boy, Amy getting a heart transplant and Jeff getting a job. xoxo
Day 5 of 12:
It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on
